  • The past perfect is used to describe a completed event that happened before another event in the past.

    • Past Perfect
    Positive: S+ has +P.P + C. 1. We had got the new books.
    2. She had finished the work.
    Negative: S+ hasn't +P.P + C 1. I hadn’t got the new books.
    2. He hadn’t finished the work.
    Yes/No Question: Had + S + P.P + C? 1. Had you got the new books?
    2. Had she finished the work?
    Wh.Question: Wh. + had + S + P.P + C? 1. When had they got the books?
    2. When had she done the work?
